Youth Club Volunteer – Tuesdays, Earl Marshall Youth Centre

Are you able to communicate with and relate well to young people?
This is a great opportunity to volunteer for a leading youth charity and make a difference to young people from varying backgrounds and cultures in Sheffield.

We are looking for volunteers to support two of our youth club sessions held on a Tuesday at Earl Marshall Youth Centre.

As a volunteer, you will be working with a passionate team of people committed to supporting and enabling young people. Volunteering takes place within our youth sessions, working directly with individuals and groups of young people.

The role requires volunteers to encourage young people to take part in a range of activities in different settings, to divert them from engaging in anti-social and/or risk-taking behaviour. Volunteers will encourage positive social and emotional development too.  Good communication skills and being able to listen to and support our young people is an important part of this role. The volunteer will also support the club generally, helping with set up of activities.

We ask that volunteers have a passion for working with young people and are able to engage well with young people. Volunteers will have the ability to work as part of a team and on their own initiative. We ask volunteers if they can commit to one evening a week to offer consistency for the young people. As a volunteer, you will receive support and training from experienced mentors and meet new people. You’ll acquire transferable experiences and skills: for example in coaching and youth work and receive the reward of making a difference to young people.

We ask that volunteers choose a regular session to volunteer on from this list:

Tuesday Girls Youth Group a group for girls aged 11-18 at Earl Marshall Youth Centre in Page Hall (Heathcote Street, Sheffield S4 8BW): Tuesdays 6-8pm

Tuesday Homework club – a group to provide youth work support to young people in year 7 and year 8 with their homework and with other more structured learning activities, at Earl Marshall Youth Centre in Page Hall (Heathcote Street, Sheffield S4 8BW): Tuesdays 4.15-5.45pm
