Hafsah Ayaz

Being the first in my household to be going to university, I am able to empathise with young people who do not have much guidance on career choices / degree choices. This will help me in any tasks regarding careers and university as I have spent a lot of time gathering knowledge on this for myself.

Due to spending time in two different areas of Sheffield has helped me highlight a holistic range of issues across Sheffield. I have also encountered the socioeconomic differences in these areas which give arise to further issues. Recently, I have started to tutor/ help young people with their studies. Through this, I have developed the skill of simplifying information so it can be better understood by young people.

Young people are the future of Sheffield, so should be supported in all ways. Nobody can better understand the current needs of young people, better than young people themselves. For this reason, young advisors have the capability to make big differences to other youth, in the most realistic and accurate ways. By empowering the young advisors, Sheffield Futures can create projects that directly cater to issues only young people are aware of.
