Our Wellbeing Services Manager, Christos Louca, represented Sheffield Futures at the South Yorkshire ICS Children’s and Young People’s Alliance conference on the 6th of June.
Opened by the South Yorkshire Mayor, Oliver Coppard, and hosted by CEO for Sheffield Children’s Foundation Trust, Ruth Brown, the conference brought over 150 professionals together to connect and reflect about the current health inequalities that exist for children and young people in South Yorkshire.
We heard from Chilypep’s CEO, Lesley Pollard, who spoke passionately about amplifying the voice of children and young people, and from Dr Luke Roberts, who shared an insightful perspective on viewing health inequalities through a systems lens.
A shared vision of six priorities for children and young people across South Yorkshire was also presented by the different providers.
We know that young people are struggling to access mental health support and are often stuck on lengthy waiting lists. We also recognise that South Yorkshire has an exciting opportunity to create and develop a health equity framework for children and young people and we’re eager to continue contributing to this important work.
