Health and Wellbeing Support

Wellbeing
/ˌwɛlˈbiːɪŋ/
noun
a state of being healthy, happy, and comfortable, both physically and mentally

Our wellbeing support includes group activities and 1:1 support. We’ll meet you where you are on your wellbeing journey, and guide you along the way.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Wellbeing Wednesdays offer you a safe space to talk to one of our practitioners about what you are experiencing in your life, and have your thoughts and feelings heard without judgement.

Structured Support

Our Structured Support sessions are our most intensive type of Health and Wellbeing Support. Through this service you will have a Health and Wellbeing Practitioner allocated to you.

Structured Support

What can I expect?

Your worker will arrange to meet with you to get a more detailed understanding of the issues you are experiencing. You’ll create a plan together for how best to support you with your wellbeing need.

Support takes place over the course of 6 sessions, with the aim of helping you be better able to manage your emotions and behaviours, as well as having an improved sense of wellbeing.

Sessions can take place in person or remotely via phone or video calls – whatever you prefer. Your worker will listen to your thoughts and worries, and offer you practical advice and strategies to take away and use in your day-to-day life to manage your emotions and improve resilience.

When support comes to an end, your worker may signpost or refer you onto additional support (such as our counselling or social prescribing services) if they feel it would benefit you. Alternatively, we may direct you back to Wellbeing Wednesday for a continued offer of a safe space to come and talk to someone.

Wellbeing Wednesday

What is it?

We know that opening up to people and sharing thoughts and feelings about things that upset us isn’t easy – it might even be something that you’ve never had the opportunity to do before. Wellbeing Wednesday can be a good way to get familiar with opening up about your feelings before beginning a more structured support programme. It also allows us to connect you with the right service to suit your needs, whether that’s Wellbeing Cafe, Counselling, or something else. Our practitioners will offer you guidance and suggest suitable next steps to help you achieve positive changes

When is it?

Wellbeing Wednesday runs every week between 11am and 4pm. You can access it however you prefer: in person at Star House, over the phone, or by video call. Call 0114 201 2800 or email us to book a slot. You can do this from Monday morning onwards for slots on Wednesday of that week.
